ABOUT US

We are Will and Nick Marshall, proud owners of The Marshall's school of Music and now The Music Neighbourhood. We are a family of musicians and passionate about the importance of ‘meeting your own people’. Following on from the fantastic support that we have received at The Marshall’s School of Music, we wanted to take our ethos of music education in to mainstream education.

Will is an amazingly talented musician who has worked in mainstream education and within leadership within music hubs. He has witnessed first hand how music education is being delivered in schools, and the dated approach that is been delivered to our next generation of musicians.

Nicks background is pastoral and safeguarding. She is totally passionate about positive mental health and confidence building in children today, and has worked with students who struggle to engage with education.

As the owners of our dream business, every child that is part of our ‘family’ is treated like an individual, who’s development and wellbeing is as important to us as our own children. Not only our we 100% invested in the development of every one of our musicians, our tutors are too! We only work with the best. Every member of our team is a highly qualified musician and performer as well as experienced and inspirational tutors (cool hair and vans are compulsory)!

OUR VISION

The Music Neighbourhood was created as a correction to 'typical' and 'repetitive' music education that exists in our school systems today.

Through experience, 20 minute shared group lessons are not productive, inspiring or relevant to our new generation of musicians. Whole Class Music Tuition shouldn't be playing songs our grandmas used to listen to, but should be delivered to match todays music trends.

The Plan For Music Education is a ‘guideline’ that can be awesome and exciting. Music lessons should be enjoyable... so much so, the teachers will want to get involved!

We believe that music lessons should encourage creativity, confidence and develop skills that can be transferred to every aspect of a young persons life. Simply ‘going through the motions’ doesn’t fit with todays society is the reason why so many of us gave up learning instruments at school, and why so many adults still have the secret desire to get up on stage or get back to learning an instrument later in life.

As a company, we want to create ‘Rock Gods’! Confident, passionate young people with a desire to be their best selves every day! Young people who have the inner strength to be who ever they want to be, without fear of being different, not scared of not following the crowd. Our neighbourhood is a community throughout many different schools, a community of individuals with the same interests and goals. A community that feels that you are part of something awesome!

Welcome to The Neighbourhood!
